You say porridge… We say Apple Pie Oats! If you have trouble getting the family to eat a healthy breakfast, or if you just need to change things up, then this is your fix. It’s lovely to add a bit of spice as the days cool down and the apple and oat combination make for a protein and fiber fueled start to the day.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup West Australian Farmhand rolled oats
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 large apple grated
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- Pinch salt
Optional garnish:
- Extra apple slices for decoration
- Toasted almond flakes
- Honey
Method:
Place all ingredients into a medium saucepan and mix well.
Bring ingredients to a boil then turn down to a low simmer and cook stirring for around 5 minutes.
Pour oats into two bowls, top with apple slices and toasted almonds and drizzle with honey.
