Honey Apple Bread

Made with fresh apples and honey, this Honey Apple bread is the perfect combination of sweet and savoury. With the added nutrition from the apples and honey, you can feel good about indulging in a slice (or two).

Serves 4


1 large Genuinely Southern Forests apple, half diced, half cut into slices

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

1 pastured egg

¼ cup honey

100g butter, softened

2 tbsp sugar

½ tsp bicarbonate soda

1 cup self-raising flour

¼ cup apple sauce or one banana mashed


Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees. Butter a small loaf tin and line with baking paper.

Combine the egg, honey, and butter together using a spatula. Add the cinnamon, sugar and bicarbonate soda.

Fold in the flour a third at a time until all incorporated (batter should be quite thick).

Fold in the apple sauce or mashed banana followed by the diced apple. Pour into the lined baking tin and cover the top with the apple slices.

Bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes, check with a skewer to make sure it comes out clean and it is ready to enjoy.
